Missing Georgia Bank Director Indicted in Fraud Case

Associated Press Release
January 26, 2013

Savannah, GA- A federal grand jury has indicted a missing south Georgia bank director on fraud charges barely three weeks after a judge declared the missing man dead.

The indictment handed down Friday in New York charges Aubrey Lee Price with securities and wire fraud. Prosecutors say he falsified account statements to cover up losing millions of dollars that came from 115 investors and his bank, Montgomery Bank & Trust in Ailey, Ga.

Price vanished in June after leaving a written confession and letters to his family saying he planned to commit suicide. A Florida judge declared him dead Dec. 31 at the request of Price's wife.

Authorities aren't buying it. George Venizelos of the FBI says Price probably lied about killing himself just as he lied to his investors.
