Mob Storms Valdosta Business With Cash

- Valdosta, Ga. - May 22, 2012 -

A mob of dozens of people stormed a business in downtown Valdosta Tuesday.

No, it's not what it sounds like. It's a "Cash Mob".

People head to a randomly selected locally owned business to spend money. The Valdosta Chamber of Commerce organized the event.

Tuesday's big winner was City Market.

"I had so much fun shopping for my grand baby. I have a new baby coming in the fall and I found these precious little shoes and this great crib sheet," said Betty Morgan, who was a shopper at the event in addition to being the Chamber's Vice President.

"We're excited about it. We've got some people I've never met before and then some customers that are good loyal customers with us that shop in here all the time. So it's definitely exciting to see such a mix of different people," said City Market owner, Jessica Newman.

Participants spent around $10 to $30 each.
