A mini-break for some of the area from the heavy rainfall is expected from late afternoon into early evening. This is good news, as we've received rainfall totals (since Friday) in excess of 10-13"! The bad news is that showers will expand back over the area by mid-evening. FLOODING is a problem and is going to continue to be one.
An approaching cold front will bring a risk of severe weather late this evening and overnight into Tuesday morning. Our area is technically in a "slight risk" region, with damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes possible. The cold front will clear our eastern areas by Tuesday afternoon, ending the severe threat AND ending the rainfall.
THEN we can look ahead to a cold snap this weekend, with sub-freezing morning low temperatures a distinct possibility by Sunday and Monday.
