Valdosta, Ga. - Sequestration will result in $85 Billion worth of cuts that will take effect this year, and Moody Air Force Base will definitely see some of those cuts, although it is not clear how much right now.
Jim Mulgrew has operated a food truck across the street from the base for the last eight years. He says his business could suffer if there are lay offs at the base.
"There's always room to trim fat, but what fat are we going to trim? I mean you don't want to take away from the defense," Jim Mulgrew, Thai Mobile Restaurant Owner, said.
Moody has a roughly $500 Million economic impact on Lowndes County every year. But that could decrease if there are major lay offs at the base.
"You do have restaurants out here. You have stores, you have groceries," said Mulgrew. "Bemiss has grown over the years. When I got here in 1976 there was nothing but a two lane highway. Now look at it."
