More Solar Panels Being Built at Water Treatment Plant in Valdosta

-- Valdosta, Ga. -- February 22, 2013 --

Valdosta City Council approved the decision to add more solar panels to the plant on Thursday.

Hannah Power will enter into a lease agreement with the city for the construction. They will be built at the Mud Creek treatment facility. The solar panels are expected to save the city about twenty five thousand dollars every year. The company responsible isn't just focused on city buildings.

Henry Hicks is the Valdosta Utilities Director. he said "they also do a lot of work with farmers. They look for big foot prints, warehoueses where they can put them on the roof. Things like that. So they're out, they're out there looking for additional sites all the time."

The new solar panels can produce up to two megawatts of electricity.
