Crawfordville, Florida- September 11, 2012- 5pm

Official release from FHP:

A driver and a passenger in a Ford Ranger were victims of a fatal accident which took place at 10:25 this morning, along US 319 at Whiddon Lake Rd.

Sue Calhoun Preacher, 73 and Daniel Lawrence Calhoun, 69 were killed in the accident.

Cora Lee Green, 91, of Crawfordville, Florida was traveling south on US-319 in a 98 Mercury Grand Marquis.

Preacher and Calhoun were traveling north in a 97 Ford Ranger along 319 at the same time.

The Grand Marquis turned left in front of the Ranger, causing the front of the Grand Marquis to strike the left side of the Ranger.

Sue Preacher, the driver of the Ranger, took evasive action to avoid the Grand Marquis by steering right and traveling onto the east grassy shoulder of the highway. Preacher then over-corrected back to the left and re-entered US 319, then traveled back again on to the east grassy shoulder traveling north.

While on the shoulder, the Ranger struck several phone boxes, cable boxes and finally a utility pole. After striking the utility pole, the vehicle flipped over onto it's roof, coming to a final rest facing south on the east grassy shoulder. The Grand Marquis continued into the Dollar General parking lot and stopped. The driver and occupant of the Ranger, Sue Calhoun Preacher and Daniel Lawrence Calhoun were pronounced deceased at the scene by Wakulla Emergency Medical Service.

The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by: Wakulla County Sheriff's Office, Wakulla County Volunteer Fire Department, Wakulla County Fire, Transfield Service, Talquin Electric, and Wakulla County Emergency Medical Services.
