Navy Yard Shooting Postpones Meggs Testimony Before Congress

State Attorney Willie Meggs says the Senate committee hearing on Stand Your Ground has been postponed due to a shooting at the nearby Washington Navy Yard.

Tallahassee, FL - State Attorney Willie Meggs will testify before Congress tomorrow.

Meggs will apppear before the Senate Judiciary committee at 10am Tuesday morning.

He will share his perspective on Florida's Stand Your Ground law.

Meggs has been a vocal critic of the law since its passage in 2005.

He says it authorizes gunfights in the street and encourages people to shoot first and think later.

Meggs intends to tell senators that drug dealers and gang members are benefitting most from the law.

Trayvon Martin's mother Sabrina Fulton will also be there to testify.
