Associated Press Release
FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- A man and woman are back in north Florida after their arrests in Arkansas for participating in a scam involving Dish Network.
Authorities say 41-year-old Anthony Gerhold and 31-year-old Crystal Gerhold were arrested on fraud charges in June for impersonating satellite television workers. They left Florida, didn't return for court appearances and were recently arrested in Little Rock, Ark.
The Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/1aMqsl3 ) reports authorities say Anthony Gerhold billed customers for $700 to $900 each by having them sign up for a Dish Network upgrade. Officials say customers realized they had been scammed when their service was cut off for non-payment. When customers complained, they were given an 800 number that was monitored by Crystal Gerhold.
Sheriff's officials say there were at least 33 victims in Nassau County.
