Thomasville, GA- Three people were arrested after investigators found nearly $50,000 worth of pot inside a truck.
Thomas County Narcotic Agents received a call over the weekend by officials in another county, warning them to be on the lookout for a Chevy pick-up truck that was possibly transporting drugs.
Shortly after that alert went out, Georgia State Patrol Troopers spotted the vehicle along 319 North and made the stop.
Inside the truck was Sergio Gomez, Jose Lira-Corra and Rosa Guadarrama.
State Troopers say as soon as they approached the vehicle, there was a strong smell of pot coming from inside.
They then searched the truck and found two bundles of marijuana underneath the back seat.
"All three were charged with trafficking in marijuana," said
Agent Kevin Lee, with the Thomasville Narcotics & Vice Division. "Each bundle was over 11 pounds a piece, so it is over 22 pounds of marijuana. One of the occupants told us he was taking it to a neighboring county."
Agents say the three suspects are all from Crescent City, Florida.
They told investigators they were on their way back from Texas which was where they picked up the weed from.
All three are currently behind bars at the Thomas County Jail.
