Lowndes Co., GA - A local bridge connecting Florida and Georgia will soon be replaced.

It's the "Withlacoochee River Bridge" connecting Madison County, Florida and Lowndes County, Georgia. It's 72 years old and too weak and narrow for many trucks.

It will soon be replaced with a new $5.3 million bridge that will be taller, wider and longer and it will be open to all vehicles of legal weight limits.

The current bridge will stay in place until the new one opens in the summer of next year.
