The Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce unveiled New Leaf Market Co-op as its business of the year at its 29th annual awards banquet.
Fifty-nine businesses were nominated for awards in six categories.
That field was narrowed to 18 finalists and one winner in each of six categories.
Then from the six winners, New Leaf was selected as the overall winner.
"We look for their community involvement, being a good community citizen, their economic development aspect and other things," said Chamber Chair Ed Murrya. "It's a selection process and a weeding down process, but they're all winners. Anybody that was nominated was a winner," he said.
New Leaf was also named the locally owned business of the year.
Other winners include Grasslands Brewing Company as the start up business of the year.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend is the non-profit of the year.
Aloft Tallahassee Downtown is the service business of the year.
The technology and innovation award winner is Syn-Tech Systems.
And the manufacturer of year award winner is TeligentEMS.
