For the first time in almost 18 years, the Wakulla County School District has a new superintendent.

Bobby Pearce won Tuesday's election garnering almost 73% of the vote. On Wednesday, Pearce and his supporters lined up on Crawfordville Highway waiving and thanking voters as they drove by.

He says he's already looking forward to serving the community.

"I'm overwhelmed with the support from the county," said Pearce. "Of course with that kind of support comes a lot of responsibility and I'm just excited about the opportunity."

Pearce will replace long-time superintendent David Miller.
