Tallahassee, FL - Peace and quiet, or getting the job done?
That was an issue handed to Leon County Commissioners tonight.
They were asked to consider an ammendment to the noise ordinance when it comes to construction.
Right now, there can be no loud noises between the hours of 8 pm and 7 am during the week, and weekends have a complete noise ban.
WCTV spoke with the Director of the Department of Development Support and Environmental Management, who says he wants to try to extend those work hours on a case by case basis.
Department of Development Support & Environmental Management: "on larger, basically non commercial projects you have situations where you need to get the concrete poured before the temperature and humidity rises."
And he says to beat the heat, some projects would benefit to start before seven in the morning.
Any changes would only affect the construction portion of the ordinance.
Commissioners chose not to decide anything tonight and to revisit the issue later.
