Thousands of people in the Big Bend are celebrating survivors and remembering victims of cancer.
The North Leon Relay for Life is underway at Chiles High School.
Folks had a chance to pray for a cure before the event started.
Survivors of cancer took a victory lap to kick off the annual event that will run until 6am Saturday morning.
For many, watching the survivors take a lap is very inspiring.
"My sister's one of them. I'm usually going around there with her, and it just lets you know that there is hope... that cancer can be beaten, and we are not giving up the fight," said Valerie Whitters, Event Chair.
Our own Art Myers emceed tonight's event.
