Valdosta, GA - If you live in Valdosta, officals say, you'll need to plan a little extra time for your commute, because of road construction.

It'll take place on Gordon Street, between Lamar and Smith Streets, Smithbriar Drive, Pinepoint Circle and the south end of Summerlin Street.

Today, crews began resurfacing the roads on the North end of town.

The City says, it prioritizes roads to be resurfaced every year, with the Local Maintenance Improvement Grant.

"These streets are graded by ourselves and the Georgia DOT, and with the assistance of the Georgia DOT grant, we are this week, and maybe partially next week, doing construction activities to resurface the streets", says Kevin Tolliver, Engineering Project Manager for The City of Valdosta.

Tolliver also says, people will still have access to their properties, but they need to be careful when driving through the construction zones, because some areas may be down to one lane of traffic.
