Tallahassee, FL - One man is dead after careening his car into a tree in Tallahassee this morning.
It happened around 3:20 on Portland Avenue in the northwest corner of town. Tallahassee police say the car hit the curb, went through several yards, and crashed into large tree.
Residents who live in a nearby apartment complex heard the crash. It happened near Gilbert Turner's front door.
Turner says, "My stepson and I, we ran out to make sure that nobody was hurt. We didn't have a flashlight, so I had to go back in the house to get a flashlight. When I looked in, I could see that he wasn't moving at all. He was laying back in the seat. My prayers go out to his family."
TPD says the driver died on the scene. His name has not been released because authorities are still trying to notify his family.
We're told the driver was the only one in the car and no one else was hurt. The crash is still under investigation.
