Tallahassee, FL -- December 28, 2011 --

Tallahassee's newest multi-millionaire seems to be keeping a very low profile. 54 year old Richard McMullen won the Florida Lotto 50 million dollar Christmas Eve jackpot

McMullen told lottery officials that he didn't want to make any media appearances, but we did find out how much money he has walked away with.

McMullen told lottery officials that he's been playing the same six numbers for more than ten years and they finally paid off.
He purchased the winning ticket at the Circle K on Northeast Capital Circle.

McMullen said he plans to share his winnings with his family.
Lottery officials say he opted for a lump sum payout.

Dennis Harmon with Florida Lottery says, "The lump sum that the winner took- was uh 34.7 million, i think we have to withhold 25 percent of that lump sum for federal income taxes."

Lottery officials say the last time there was a multi-million dollar winner in the Big Bend area was in the summer of 2010.
That winner walked away with two million dollars.

Winning Lottery Ticket Bought in Tallahassee Claimed

Tallahassee, FL -- December 27, 2011 --

The Florida Lottery announced today that Richard McMullen, 54, of Tallahassee, claimed the $50 million FLORIDA LOTTO™ jackpot prize from the drawing held on December 24, 2011.

Saturday night's FLORIDA LOTTO™ winner is not the only one celebrating! Saturday's LOTTO drawing produced the 1,000th jackpot-winning ticket since the game's inception in April 1988, resulting in a bonus commission of $150,000 for the retailer that sold the winning ticket.

"We are very excited to be celebrating our 1,000th jackpot winning ticket. This is not only a win for the lucky FLORIDA LOTTO player, but also for the retailer that sold the winning ticket." said Florida Lottery Secretary Cynthia O' Connell.

The winning numbers were 2-11-15-19-24-26 and the XTRA® multiplier was 5. The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K, located at 1848 Capital Circle N.E. in Tallahassee.

According to McMullen, he has been playing the same six LOTTO numbers for more than 10 years. It has always been understood that any jackpot winnings would be shared among the family. ¿This is definitely our most memorable Christmas ever,¿ said McMullen.

"FLORIDA LOTTO plays an important role in our mission of raising as much money as possible for education in the state. Saturday night's jackpot contributed towards the game's overall contributions to education, which total more than $7 billion since 1988," added Secretary O' Connell.

Total LOTTO with XTRA® ticket sales during this jackpot rollover series generated more than $49 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF). The next FLORIDA LOTTO drawing will be held Wednesday, December 28 at 11:15 p.m. ET, with a $2 million jackpot. The drawings may be viewed on one of the Lottery's 17 television carrier stations throughout the state or as webcasts on the Lottery's website. FLORIDA LOTTO winning numbers are posted on the Lottery's website, and players may register to receive winning numbers via e-mail or text messaging.

FLORIDA LOTTO is the Lottery's flagship in-state, multimillion-dollar jackpot game, in which players win the jackpot by matching 6-of-6 winning numbers drawn in any order. In 2009, XTRA® was added to the FLORIDA LOTTO game. The $1 add-on feature allows players the opportunity to multiply their non-jackpot winnings up to five times. After 1,809 draws and more than $18 billion in tickets sales, FLORIDA LOTTO is still the most popular game offered by the Florida Lottery and one of the strongest lotto games in the nation, even after the introduction of POWERBALL in Florida. Since the game was introduced, more than 300 million FLORIDA LOTTO prizes have been won, totaling more than $8 billion!

Florida voters, by a two-to-one margin, approved a constitutional amendment in 1986 authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education. To date, the Florida Lottery has funded Bright Futures scholarships for more than 500,000 Florida students to attend college in our state. Floridians continue to show their support by purchasing billions of dollars in Lottery products per year, resulting in contributions of more than $23 billion to the EETF since 1988. Don't you love it when the politically correct police turn up to tell you what to think and say. It happens in almost every discussion.

I'm not surprised. The same thing happened on Christmas eve with the Santa Tracker article. The first few comments were all political. How can anyone think about that sort of stuff on Christmas eve and ruin a perfectly good article on the whereabouts of Santa.
