Press Release: Florida Department of Transportation
Chipley – East and westbound traffic on State Road (S.R.) 10 (U.S. 90)/Tennessee Street in Tallahassee will be reduced to two lanes in each direction from Woodward Avenue to Wadsworth Street 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, July 17 and Thursday, July 18.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will relocate 16 Crape Myrtles from the median on Tennessee Street to the FDOT Operations Center in Midway. This project is being conducted prior to a mid-block crosswalk installation slated for this fall and is part of a larger effort to enhance safety along the corridor.
FDOT plans to resurface Tennessee Street, repair deficient sidewalk and replace noncompliant curb ramps from Ocala Road to S.R. 61 (U.S. 27)/Monroe Street. Pedestrian safety improvements slated for this project include a pedestrian barrier, two signalized mid-block crosswalks, access stairs/ramps from Tennessee Street to Florida State University and pedestrian signal features. Construction for this project is currently scheduled to begin fall 2013.
All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather. Motorists are reminded to travel with care through the work zone and to watch for construction equipment and workers entering and exiting the roadway.
