Funeral Set For Pilot Killed In NW Florida Plane Crash

SHALIMAR, Fla. (AP) -- A funeral has been scheduled for a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel killed in a small plane crash in Florida's Panhandle.

Larry Eli Caison died last week in the crash. The Northwest Florida Daily News reports that a memorial service was scheduled Friday at a Shalimar church.

Caison was flying from Palm Beach County to Destin to be with family for the Christmas holiday when his single-engine aircraft crashed in a heavily wooded and remote area of Bay County.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.

CALLAWAY, Fla. (AP) -- The pilot of a small plane is dead after his single-engine aircraft went down in a remote part of the Florida Panhandle.

The Bay County Sheriff's Office told the News Herald of Panama City that 52-year-old Larry Eli Caison was killed when his Raytheon G-36 aircraft went down in a heavily wooded and remote area of Bay County.

The plane went down Wednesday around 7:30 a.m.

Officials said it appears the plane was en route to Destin from North Palm Beach.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration have been called to investigate.
