Pizza Shops Look to Cash in on big Day

MoMo's Pizza in Tallahassee is usually pretty busy on a Tuesday night.

"We love their pizza. It's great. We had bread sticks tonight," says MoMo customer David Yon.

"It's one of our favorite places to go for Saturdays, for special occasions," says customer, Matt Harrington.

But even more so when that Tuesday falls on New Year's Day.

"It's getting busy for just opening up. We already have big parties and big pizzas coming out," says Laura Jones, an assistant manager for MoMo's.

According to Pizza.com New Year's Day is one of the busiest days for pizza joints all over the country. In terms of overall sales, it ranks as one of the top five days, with Super Bowl Sunday coming in at number one. Making it a giant slice of most pizza places annual monetary pie.

"We have a couple more guys in the kitchen than we usually do for a Tuesday night. We have a strong server staff tonight. We're ready. We're excited," says Jones.

According to NetScape, about 3 billion, pizzas are sold every year in the U.S. That doesn't include the additional one billion frozen pizzas sold
