Police: Madison Man Arrested After Stuffing Marijuana In Mouth

Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that on Saturday the 19th day of October 2013 Madison County Sheriff’s Office Deputies conducted a traffic stop on US 90 for a traffic infraction (speeding). The vehicle (Black/Gold Mitsubishi) was traveling in an Easterly direction and being driven by Raleigh Barfield of Madison Florida. After approaching the driver and obtaining the necessary information for the traffic violation enforcement, deputies observed the driver appear to be stuffing a substance in his mouth. Upon returning to the driver, deputies now detected the odor of marijuana coming from the driver’s breath as he remained seated in the vehicle and speaking with the Officers. A probable cause search resulted in the discovery of a grinder with marijuana residue and a clear plastic bag containing marijuana less than 28 grams. Barfield was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Madison County Jail.
