Thomasville, GA- Police need your help finding the woman they believe gave a store clerk counterfeit money.

Surveillance video shows the woman coming into the L & G Food Mart in Thomasville on Jan. 1.

She then handed the clerk three one hundred dollar bills in exchange for a money order.

That transaction happened around 11:30 a.m.

Hours later, a man came into the store and did the same thing.

At the time, the clerk didn't recognize the bills were fake.

"What we recommend for all businesses who take in money over the counter, is that they get a system as to how they want to check these bills, whether it be with a pen or being able to look at it and tell, so they don't get trapped in taking these bills in," said Lt. Eric Hampton with the Thomasville Police Department.

Police were able to determine both incidents were related because all the fake bills had the same serial numbers.

James Thompson, 42, has since been identified as the man involved and was charged with forgery.

Thompson, however, denies knowing the woman in the video.
