Police Shoot Erratic Driver

DUNWOODY, Ga. (AP) -- Police in Dunwoody fatally shot an erratic driver who ran into several cars near the Perimeter Mall in suburban Atlanta.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the incident unfolded around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Authorities saw a car driving erratically through the parking lot of the Dunwoody Police Department and tried stopping the unidentified man who was driving it.

The man kept driving through another parking lot and then onto a street.

Officials told the newspaper the driver sped toward an officer who was directing traffic and the officer fired once at the man.

After being shot, the man stopped at an apartment complex and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. He was later pronounced dead.

No additional details were available and the incident is under investigation.
