Republican candidate for Georgia Governor David Pennington visited Valdosta Thursday afternoon.
This comes days before the primary election on May 20. Pennington looks to become Georgia's 83rd governor and the third republican governor in a row. He says the number one issue is Georgia's economy.
"Georgia's not recovering as well as the surrounding states are, because we just aren't competitive from a tax stand point anymore. We have the highest income tax in the south, the state just south of us, Florida, has no income tax. We've got to cut the Georgia income tax on the way to eliminating it with the fair tax," said Pennington.
Pennington will visit Waycross and Savannah on Friday.
