Tallahassee, FL - Reverend Jessie Jackson is at the Florida Capitol tonight and he says he'll spend the night with protestors there.

The protestors have been at the Capitol for more than two weeks. They're hoping by drawing more star power like Harry Belafonte and now the Reverend Jessie Jackson that they can get more attention.

Rev. Jesse Jackson: "We want the stand your ground laws to end. We want the governor to have a special session. This is an emergency. People are crying out, people are hurting. We need an emergency session of the legislature."

So far Governor Scott has said 'No' to that request-- spurring Reverend Jackson and the other Dream Defenders to hold their own session in the old Capitol building.

Reverend Jackson also tried to clarify the message that the Dream Defenders are not just protesting one incident.

Rev. Jesse Jackson: "Trayvon Martin became a martyr because of the way he was killed and the killer set free. Trayvon was a canary in the mine. There are many more birds in that mine."

Tuesday's mock legislative session did not have any legal impact. It was meant to highlight the the goals of the Dream Defenders, namely their effort to repeal the Stand Your Ground law.

Tallahassee, FL - The Rev. Jesse Jackson is joining the Dream Defenders at the Florida Capitol tonight.

WCTV has a reporter at the Capitol and will bring you more tonight on Eyewitness News.
