Tallahassee, FL- Life is getting easier for people driving or walking around a busy stretch of Tallahassee.
City leaders helped cut the ribbon for the grand opening of the widening of capital circle southeast.
The stretch of road is west of Woodville Highway to east of Crawfordville Road.
More than a mile of the roadway was expanded to 7 lanes.
It now provides a sidewalk, trail and bicycle lanes.
Tallahassee Mayor John Marks says "for people to get back and forth from shopping, back and forth from jobs, back and forth from relatives that may be here, makes things a lot easier for them"
The road widening project kicked off in 2010 and it employed around 1800 people.
Mayor Marks says the completion of this project shows the city's focus on the Southside, and a focus to bring more businesses and jobs to that area.
