Press Release: City of Tallahassee
As part of an ongoing stormwater improvement project, the roundabout at Killarney Way and Shamrock Street will be closed to traffic starting Monday, April 8. The closure is expected to last approximately three months.
Detours around the closure will be posted. Motorists will be detoured using Killarney Plaza Drive, Cavan Drive, Donegal Drive, Ross Common Drive, Shamrock Street and Foley Drive.
Access to all businesses near the roundabout will be maintained during construction. Business entrance signs will be placed to aid motorists in continuing to patronize these shops.
The primary goal of this project is to reduce the frequency and severity of flooding in and around the roundabout intersection of Killarney Way and Shamrock Street. Work also includes improving surface water quality by expanding the existing stormwater management facility (holding pond) in the Kenmare Commons subdivision off Killarney Way. The work at the roundabout is part of the final phase of the stormwater improvement project.
Press Release: City of Thomasville
Work to remove asphalt from an additional section of historic brick pavers on Jackson Street will begin Monday, April 8, 2013. Due to construction, West Jackson Street, from Remington Avenue to Stephens Street (including the Jackson Street/Stephens Street intersection), will be closed to traffic. Work is expected to take one week to complete.
The work that is being done is a component of the Madison Street Transportation Enhancement (TE) project and will remove the asphalt from the roadway, exposing the historic bricks underneath.
“These pavers serve to really bring the rich history of our community to life,” said City Engineer Jerry Pionessa. “Removing the asphalt to expose these pavers just enhances our downtown’s already unique aesthetics.”
The Madison Street TE project, which was completed in February, served to revitalize the streetscape on Madison Street by adding decorative sidewalks and lighting, moving all aerial utilities underground and also exposing additional historic bricks on Jackson Street.
Citizens are asked to please remove all vehicles from these two sections of Jackson Street by 7:00 a.m. Wednesday morning to allow for construction.
Press Release: City of Valdosta
