Search Continues for Missing Suwannee Kayaker

Suwannee County, FL - The search continues in Suwannee for a kayaker last seen two days ago.

The Coast Guard is helping the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in searching for 46-year-old James F. McDonald. He was reported overdue in a 14-foot kayak Sunday. His family said he left for a camping and kayaking trip Oct. 9 and had not returned.

A helicopter searched through the area Monday morning.

The Coast Guard says kayakers should follow safety measures that include a float plan for family and friends; wear a life jacket; be aware of weather conditions and water temperature; and stay hydrated.
