Seminole Fans Schedule Orange Bowl Plans

By  |

The Seminoles are preparing for their trip to the Orange Bowl in January. But how many fans will make the trip?

Many are wondering if the match up with the Northern Illinois Huskies will fill the seats. Both schools are given 17,500 tickets to sell. Those tickets cost $110 each.

Bill Duzinski of Adventures In Travel says the phones aren't lighting up quite yet for folks looking to go to South Beach.

"It's been an interesting flip-flop as to who's playing who this year," said Duzinski.

It doesn't help that Northern Illinois doesn't really scream tradition when it comes to big-time bowl games.

"I think it's basically the economy you know. It's another expense to face."

Duzinski says he's selling packages including round-trip flight from Tallahassee and a two night stay at a hotel for $950 per person. That same package costs just $550 in Jacksonville. This isn't even including tickets for the game. The ticket website is selling tickets ranging from $15 to more than $11,000 for executive suites.

Because of the non traditional match up between FSU and NIU, the Orange Bowl is not just marketing the game but an entire weekend of festivities to entice Seminole fans.

"It just so happened that it ended up becoming an FSU weekend with Warrick Dunn is gonna be put in the Orange Bowl Hall of Fame," said Orange Bowl Committeeman Jeff Rubin.

Along with a music festival and New Year's Eve party, the Orange Bowl hopes fans make the visit a mini-vacation to jump start 2013.
