TALLAHASSEE, FL— The Board of Directors of The Tallahassee-Leon Shelter, Inc. announces the retirement of Mel Eby, who has served as the Executive Director of The Shelter for over 25 years. During those years, Mr. Eby was an invaluable guiding light to The Shelter. The guests served increased from about 10 per day to over 225 per day. The range of services expanded from a safe place to sleep to include 3 meals a day, showers, nursing care, counseling, and referrals to other agencies. The Board wishes Mr. Eby every success in his much-deserved retirement and thanks him for his many years of service to the homeless of the Big Bend area.

The Board of the Shelter is grateful to our community for its ongoing support of our efforts to provide emergency shelter for the homeless. We are confident that our community understands the need for care of the homeless, and we look forward to the future cooperation of our community partners with our efforts to continue and improve that care.
