News Release: Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority

This week, the VLPRA Therapeutic Division will be hosting our first- ever “Egg-ceptional Egg Hunt” on Saturday, April 12, 2014. This egg hunt is free and will cater to children with disabilities and their families. The purpose of our egg hunt is to provide a fun, safe, family-friendly environment that allows children who may have difficulty participating in a traditional egg hunt the opportunity to hunt for Easter eggs.

Children will hunt 3,000 toy and candy-filled Easter Eggs in a fully-accessible environment, take pictures with the Easter Bunny, enjoy face painting, visit with a live bunny, create arts and crafts, and much, much more at the VLPRA Craig Center. The center is located at 1104 West Gordon Street Valdosta. The 2.5 acre lot is fenced-in and is wheelchair accessible.

Our first “Egg-ceptional Egg Hunt” is scheduled for 11:00 am and will cater to children ages 2 to 7 years old. The second egg hunt will be open to children ages 8 to 12 years old and is scheduled for 11:20 am. “Beep Eggs” will be provided to our visually-impaired participants and we will have tennis ball hopper baskets for our wheelchair participants.

Children who capture Golden Eggs will win Easter Baskets and there will be other prizes awarded randomly.

No prior registration is needed and this is a family-friendly event where siblings are welcome to participate. Please join us for this one-of-a-kind event from 11:00AM to 1:00PM on Saturday, April 12th at the VLPRA Craig Center!
