Tallahassee, Fla. -- Tonight the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce debuted an idea that has been used before for personal relationships and they are now trying out the same concept, except for business networking.

Ever heard of speed dating? Well, try speed networking! Over 50 people came to the Northwood Centre in Tallahassee to give it a try.

"I was sent an email about this and thought okay this would be a good way to interact with other chamber members and other people in the community to see what businesses they offer and so that I could also offer to introduce my business," Dr. Martine Charles D.C., Chiropractic Physician, said.

The theme is "get connected" and the idea behind it is to provide an opportunity for people to make new business connections and meet like minded individuals in a relaxed environment.

"Going table to table, we had about 4 people at each station and we had about 10 minutes to talk about how long we've been in Tallahassee and what our business is and what we do and how we can benefit each other,” Dean Porostovsky, Comcast Business Class, said. “It was really great to meet new people."

The focus of the chamber is to make Tallahassee a better place to live by helping build successful businesses that provide jobs, support families and give back to the community and organizers say this event did just that.

"if they can build clientele and do business with one another, it's going to keep our business growing and keep Tallahassee a great place to work and to live,” Dana Noles, VP of Events, Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, said.

The speed networking events will take place four times a year and the next one is scheduled for this summer.
