Press Release: City of Tallahassee

Looking for a lucky charm this St. Patrick’s Day? The Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center (ASC) is hosting a St. Pitty’s Day celebration by waiving adoption fees on all pit bulls and pit bull mixes this Sunday, March, 17, from 1 to 4:30 p.m.

“Pit bulls are often misrepresented as being an aggressive breed, when in fact the vast majority are social with people and other pets,” said ASC Director Erika Leckington. “Pit bulls are extremely loyal, affectionate and intelligent. They are easy to house train and respond very well to obedience training. They have an incredible smile and several are awaiting a life-saving opportunity just to show you how thankful they are!”

There are 30 of these playful pups at ASC awaiting the chance to prove their luck, loyalty and love to a deserving family. There will be no need to say “Kiss Me I’m Irish!” with this affectionate breed, they’ll be delighted to shower you with kisses any day of the year.

Each dog is tested for heartworm, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and most are already spayed or neutered. Those animals not yet altered require a $50 deposit which is refundable with proof of surgery. Each dog comes with a collar and ID tag so remember to bring a leash if you are looking to take one home!

The Animal Service Center, located adjacent to Tom Brown Park at 1125 Easterwood Drive, is operated and maintained by the City’s Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department. More information is available by calling the Center at 891-2950.
