Press Release: TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
In the wake of the recent heavy rains that affected the Big Bend Region last weekend, Taylor County Emergency Management has been monitoring the rivers of the County.
The Emergency Management Department has observed a six foot increase in the Steinhatchee River.
At this time the river is showing signs of slowing but continues to rise. At this time the river is not affecting any roadways and the Emergency Management Department and its partners are closely monitoring the situation to ensure a quick and appropriate response should action be required.
The Taylor County Emergency Response Team would like to encourage Steinhatchee residents to closely monitor the river, report issues to the Emergency Operations Center at 850-838-3575, and take appropriate precautions.
The current forecasted weather for the county for the week calls for scattered and isolated storms and showers with chances for precipitation below 50%.
