Tallahassee, Florida - Feb. 3, 2012 -

The Senate Regulated Industries Committee approved a bill Thursday that would allow lottery players to buy tickets for Lotto, Powerball and similar games from vending machines. Currently, the Florida Lottery only is allowed to sell scratch-off tickets in vending machines, which are located at retailers across the state. But SB 902, which the Regulated Industries Committee unanimously approved, would allow vending-machine sales of what are known as "online" games, such as Lotto, Powerball, Mega Money and Fantasy 5. The change could eventually lead to the state collecting an additional $21 million a year, with the money going to education, according to a Senate staff analysis.

Good! I've never bought a lottery ticket in my life, but I get tired of waiting in line behind people who can't make up their mind about what tickets they want, then they stand at the counter to scratch them off while 10-12 customers are trying to pay for their gas and get home. Buy your tickets and move out of the way.
