Tallahassee, FL - Walter is a lovable, 8-year-old Pomeranian. To his owners, he means the world. But last week, their world was turned upside down.

Walter ran off and disappeared and within a few hours, his owners got a text message asking for a reward.

"An extortion is what I thought it was at that time even. I wasn't going to go along with that game," said Walter's owner.

Tallahassee Police say Walter was allegedly picked up by these two women, Curtisia J. Coates and Melissa Carey. When Walter's owners told the women there wasn't a reward, they say the women stopped answering their calls.

Then an ad showing Walter appeared on Craigslist. He was being sold for $300 dollars. His owners saw it and went straight to the police.

"We've heard stories of dogs being abused and stolen so they can be used in dog fights and stuff like that. So a lot of wild things go through your mind. You just don't know. "

Police used the ad to setup a meeting with the women at a local shopping center. They were arrested and Walter was returned home. It's the news his owners had beeing waiting 48 hours to hear.

"We just dropped everything and got back as soon as we could to the house just to make sure he was okay," said one of Walter's owners.

Walter's owners say he was groggy the first two days back but now looks to be doing fine.

Both women are charged with Grand Theft, Dealing in Stolen Property and using the internet to deal in stolen property.
