Valdosta, GA - The Valdosta Fire Department is investigating an arson after a passer by noticed a car engulfed in flames.

It happened around midnight on Stallings Road in Valdosta. Fire Investigators say most of the car was destroyed when they got there, but when crews ran the vin number, they found out it had been reported stolen in Remerton. Lt. Dereck Willis, with VFD, says they know the point of origin, but are waiting for results on the cause of the fire.

"There was not a whole lot left of the vehicle, once it was extinguished, but the good thing about arson investigations, is that there's always something."

Willis also says his department is working with The Valdosta Police Department to find out who stole this car, and why they set it on fire.

According to Lt. Willis, this case is only one of a handfull of arson cases in Valdosta this year.
