Structure Fire At Old Greenville Primary School In Madison [GALLERY]

News Release: Greenville Fire and Rescue

At approximately 8:05 PM on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 Madison County 911 Center received a report of smoke coming from the old Greenville Primary School in downtown Greenville.

Greenville Fire/Rescue was first on scene and reported a two story structure behind the old Primary School was fully involved and requested assistance from other departments. M

adison, New Home, Sirmans, and Hamburg sent engines and tankers and the Madison ladder truck.

The structure was the cafeteria that was detached from the main building and has not been in use for some time.

The State Fire Marshall was called and arrived at the site at 10:00 PM to investigate and determine a cause for the blaze. Also assisting was the Madison County Sheriff's Office, Madison County Emergency Medical Services and Madison County Emergency Management.

No injuries had been reported at the time this report was written.

Cherry Lake Fire/Rescue came to Madison to be available in the event of additional calls were received.
