Student Arrested For Setting Fire At Valdosta High

On September 19, 2013 at approximately 10:02 am, the Valdosta Police Department and the Valdosta Fire Department responded to the Valdosta High School, 3103 N. Forrest Street in reference to a fire in one of the restrooms. The fire was quickly extinguished by school personnel and no one was injured.

After a joint investigation between the police and fire departments and with the assistance from school administration, Tavis Williams, who is a student at the school, was arrested for Arson and Disruption of a Public School. Williams was transported to the Lowndes County Jail.

According to the report, the damage was isolated to a single bathroom stall and was estimated at $400.00.
