Thomasville, GA - Chelsea Lovelady, 21, was a college student in Winter Park, Florida when tragedy struck.

On March 24, 2013 Chelsea was playing with her cousins and fell out of the back of a truck, suffering severe brain trauma.

"They said that she would never walk or talk again, but we knew God had a different plan for her," said Debi Lovelady, Chelsea's mom.

After spending more than two months in a coma and undergoing several brain surgeries, Chelsea woke up and was on a mission to prove the doctors wrong.

"The physicians said she'd never be able to walk, talk, and now she's walking, talking, smiling," said family friend, Tracey-Sanford Giemza.

When students at Southwest Georgia Technical College in Thomasville heard Chelsea's inspiring story, they wanted to help.

"The business professor here at Southwest Georgia Technical College, Neil Clements, and I know each other professionally and personally so when it came time for his 'Team Building Class' to do an activity, he asked me if I knew of any non-profits or families that needed help and Chelsea came right to mind," Giemza said.

The students held three fundraisers and received help from the 'Lives Without Limits' organization in Thomasville.

On Monday, they came together and presented Chelsea and her family with a check for $4,454.

"It felt really good to be able to raise this money and I know that it's for a great cause," said Southwest Georgia Technical student, Jade Marshall.

Debi Lovelady broke down in tears after receiving the generous donation and said, "Words can't really explain how amazing that the people that have donated their time and money; it's unbelievable the support we've gotten."
