Valdosta, GA - Is Valdosta one of the poorest cities in America?
It's actually the third poorest, according to a recent article by a publication called "24/7 Wall Street".
The numbers are based on the U.S. Census Bureau's 2011 American Community Survey. It counts areas with populations of 65,000 or more. So Valdosta just barely made the cut off.
"I've lived in Valdosta about 36 years and it seems about the same just a lot bigger than when we first moved here a long time ago," said Valdosta resident Larry Glorious.
"I come here regularly and I go to the mall and I've been to downtown Valdosta and I've checked out Valdosta's natural sights," said Ashley Munoz, Madison, FL resident who comes to Valdosta frequently.
Valdosta city leaders question the reliability of the study saying that it lacks specificity.
