Tallahassee, FL - Area organizations are fighting hunger among local families by asking you to "Stuff the Truck."
AMWAT Moving Warehousing and Storage, the Junior League of Tallahassee, and Move For Hunger held a food drive Thursday at Cascades Park in Tallahassee.
The goal is to fill two tractor trailer trucks with food. All food and monetary donations go to America's Second Harvest of the Big Bend.
Whichever business or person donates the most in weight wins a trophy. Within the first half hour of the event, more than 400-pounds of food was donated.
Joel Hagans was one of the first to give. He says, "I make it a point throughout the year to make sure I help out worthy causes throughout the year. So, when I heard they were doing it, I wanted to make sure to come down and do it. I feel like I'm giving back to the community."
The food drive will be held again from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Lake Ella.
Organizers say they hope to make it an annual event.
