Dream Big and Read is a program put on by libraries across Florida to encourage children to read.
WCTV reporters Lanetra Bennett, Jacquie Slater, Angelica Alvarez, Lindsey Day and Gina Pitisci were out a various libraries across Leon County as part of the program, reading to children. Children from preschool to middle school came out Saturday 7-28-12 to hear them read. They read books everything from nature to ghost stories
"One of the most important things a parent can do is to help their child learn to read. It's the foundation for everything they'll learn to do in school. They need to be able to read and comprehend what they're reading and once they've got that, the rest of school is a snap," says Verna Brock Woodville Library Branch Manager.
The program's goal is to get people County-wide to read 5,000 books before the summer's end. So far, more than 1,000 books have been read.
