Valdosta, GA - Should guns be allowed in church? They're banned in Georgia, and the nation's highest court ruled Monday that the ban will stay in place.
The ban on guns in church and other places of worship in Georgia is here to stay. The United States Supreme Court refused to reconsider the ruling Monday made by a lower court. Meaning, the nation's highest court will not overturn the Georgia law.
The ban also includes government buildings, polling places, etc. The push to appeal the decision came from Atlanta-based "GeorgiaCarry.Org". Organizers say the ban violates people's religious freedoms.
Georgia Carry's law suit actually started with a reverend around the macon area who said he wanted to have a gun for protection while working in the church office.
The Supreme Court reviews only about 2% of all cases submitted.
