A Gadsden County man is in trouble with the law for sexual battery. The 36-year-old is charged with molesting a boy under the age of 16. Authorities say the man also has a history of domestic violence against his live-in girlfriend.

Many people I spoke to say they are relieved to hear that 36-year-old Leonard Shay Kelly is behind bars. One person even says it "made their day." Those who know him say Kelly has caused problems for many over the years.

Westley Bruner says last year he called the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office on his neighbor for trespassing. Bruner says he's happy to hear of 36-year-old Leonard Kelly's new arrest.

A juvenile told deputies Kelly touched him and forced him to reciprocate. The juvenile also said Kelly performed oral sex on him while riding in a car.

Neighbor Westley Bruner says, "I got some daughters and for me to know that he's been locked up for that, it's a peace that he's not around here."

Deputies say Kelly's live-in girlfriend has been a victim of several incidents of domestic battery. Investigators say he even tried to entice his girlfriend to allow a juvenile to engage in sexual activity with them.

Deputies say Kelly could also be facing charges stemming from a warrant from Havana Police. Deputies say one day last month, Kelly went inside of this Dollar General store in Havana where his girlfriend was, he ended up calling for his pit bull inside on his girlfriend, the store manager, and several patrons.

We have a significant interest in keeping our community safe. We want to do what we can to protect our residents.

Westley says, "If he does something wrong and that gets him arrested, it makes me feel a lot better."

Deputies say Kelly is a suspect in thefts, trespassings, aggravated assaults, and various other crimes. His criminal record dates back to 1994 when Kelly was just 18. Kelly is in the Gadsden County Jail awaiting his first appearance.

A Gadsden County man is behind bars for sexually assaulting someone 16-years-old or younger. The 36-year-old man has also been in trouble for domestic battery on his live-in girlfriend.

After extensive run-ins with the law enforcement throughout Gadsden County, 36 year old Leonard Shay Kelly, was arrested on two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior and once county of sexual assault on a person 16 years of age or less. Kelly who had a neighborhood in Havana, Florida in an uproar over his continuous criminal activity, was arrested after a juvenile victim disclosed that Kelly allegedly touched the victim and forced the juvenile victim to touch Kelly as well. The juvenile victim went on to state that Kelly orally molested the victim while traveling in a vehicle.

Kelly, who was also arrested earlier this year for domestic battery, was said to have tried to entice the mother of the juvenile victim to allow the juvenile victim to engage in sexual activity with them.

The neighborhood in Havana, Florida, where Kelly lived, banned together attempting to get Kelly removed from the entire neighborhood. Kelly was a suspect in thefts, trespassing, aggravated assaults, and various other crimes. His criminal past began
back as far as 1994 at the age of 18. Kelly is now being held in the Gadsden County Jail, awaiting first appearance, with additional charges of aggravated assault from a warrant issued by Havana Police Department after he released a pit bull inside of the Dollar General on his live-in girlfriend, store manager, and several patrons.
