Live Oak, FL - Big changes could be coming for Elementary Students in Suwannee County, Florida. Thursday was the last of three meetings where school leaders explained their plans to Reconfigure the schools.
Right now elementary students change schools almost every two years. The reconfiguration would make all three elementary level schools stand alone and teach Pre-K through 5th grade.
"So by having the configuration k through 5 we can have three different elementary schools with school grades. Those teams then can be focused on the achievement of those students up through the 5th grade," said Dawn Lamb, Director of Curriculum.
The final decision will be made in March. If approved, the reconfiguration will be made over summer break and go into effect next school year.
