Fourteen members of the community were honored at Tallahassee Community College Monday.

An unveiling of a new calendar unofficially kicked off black history month. The 14th annual Cherry Alexander African-American history calendar highlights significant contributions by African-Americans in Leon, Gadsden and Wakulla counties.

"They are extremely honored because often times these are not the people who are the most popular or well known but they have worked hard within their community," said co-coordinator Louis Dilbert.

WCTV's Gina Pitisci emceed the event. These calendars will be given out to thousands of youth in the Big Bend.

The honorees are as followed:

Jerome Maples
