News Release: Tallahassee Fire Department
At 7:30 a.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department responded to an abandoned commercial building fire located at 2800 North Monroe Street.
When fire crews arrived on scene at the three-story hotel, they encountered three rooms on the second level completely involved in fire.
Firefighters stretched multiple hose lines and extinguished the fire
inside the three rooms.
The fire spread through the walls to the upper floors, as well as the attic of the complex, requiring firefighters to set up two ladder trucks and attack the fire from above.
Firefighters completely overhauled and extinguished all of the hidden fires by 9:30 a.m. No injuries were reported at the scene and no occupants were inside the building at the time of the fire.
Damages from the blaze were estimated at $450,000 and no injuries were reported at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and believed to be started by vagrants. The Tallahassee Police Department and Leon County EMS also assisted at the scene.

Tallahassee, Fla. -- At approximately 7 this morning, the Tallahassee Fire Department was called out to an abandoned hotel at the corner of Lakeshore Drive and North Monroe Street.
No one was found inside at the time of the fire, and about 20 firefighters from five different stations began battling the blaze.
Officials were concerned about the roof collapsing. The Fire Marshal is at the scene investigating for any signs of arson.
No injuries have been reported at this time.

Tallahassee, Fla. -- The Tallahassee Fire Department is at the scene of a hotel fire this morning.
Although the details aren't immediately clear, officials say the blaze is at the America's Best Value Inn, located at 2800 North Monroe Street.
Firefighters are still battling the fire which started earlier this morning, and there is no word on any injuries at this time.
WCTV has a reporter headed to the scene and will have more information as soon as it's available.
