Tallahassee, FL-Citizens and members of the Tallahassee Police Department were honored for their work and service Friday.

It was part of TPD's biannual Police Service awards.

The ceremony recognizes both citizens and officers for their service and bravery during the course of the year.

TPD's Canine Unit was one of the award recipients.

They arrived at the ceremony after coming from the funeral services for Koda.

Koda was a canine with the Leon County Sheriff's Office who was killed in the line of duty last week.

"It's a sad moment because you realize how much hard work went into it, but you know especially with canine Koda, he did a wonderful job, he did exactly what he was trained to do, he did exactly what he was suppose to do and Deputy McMullen did exactly what he was suppose to do," said Sgt David Bell, with TPD's canine unit.

The ceremony was at the Florida Sheriffs Association.

TPD says it plans to have another awards ceremony in about six months
