Tallahassee, FL-- "Twenty minutes straight of just sirens blasting," said Leanne O'Connell, a nearby resident says describing what she heard on Friday night.

Around 11 p.m. Friday on Connor Boulevard and Lone Feather Trail, Tallahassee police say McKenzie Nattiel lost control of his car, and spun sideways into an oak tree in the median.

"Heard a dull thud and I thought it might have been an accident. Seems like we've seen quite a few accidents, about two or three years ago a girl was killed about the same spot out there," said John Roberts, another nearby resident who heard the commotion.

TPD says Nattiel's passenger and wife Michaela Nattiel was ejected from the car and later died at the hospital.

McKenzie had to be pulled from the vehicle and was also treated for injuries.

Neighbors that live near the crash say its not unusual for an accident to happen on this road because they say people speed down the street during the night all the time.

"Slow it down, especially when you have neighborhoods out here and Tom Brown Park on the other side, so there is a lot of kids alot of adults jogging, riding bike. People need to just please slow it down," said O'Connell.

TPD says there were indications of driver impairment, but results are still pending.

Tallahassee Police Department Press Release

Tallahassee Police officers, TFD and EMS were called to the scene of a single-car traffic crash on Connor Blvd near the intersection with Lone Feather Trail.

Officers found a single vehicle had veered off the roadway and struck an oak tree in the median. The subsequent investigation indicated that the driver apparently lost control and spun sideways into the tree.

The passenger was ejected upon impact and the driver had to be extricated from the vehicle. Both driver and passenger were transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Sadly, the passenger succumbed to her injuries.
